Change of music video idea
Although we have previously changed the idea we had for our music video, we have finally came to a solid idea that we are 100% sure on, that we all agree about and have an extensive amount of ideas for. We came to the conclusion that as much fun our idea for Carly Rae Jepsen, Call me maybe - may have been, despite our efforts to edit it efficiently, it would not help us achieve the grades we are aspiring towards.
As a group we came together on the 17th October and discussed the problems we were already facing with that idea. One of the most prominent of these was that it can possibly look too much like a 'fan video' that we have seen on YouTube; where a mass of fans of a band/artist individually record themselves supporting the band/singer whilst singing along to song lyrics. Which is precisely what our initial idea was.
However, this is not the only aspect of the video that encouraged us to change our mind, as we were also being let down by some of the cast list that we were asking. It was becoming difficult to depend on others for dates and times to record - and taking into consideration that this is our video and grade at risk, the last thing we wanted to do was depend on other people!
Finally, the lyrics to the 'Call me maybe song' for example, the chorus:
Hey, I just met you...and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe - seemed irrelevant to what we wanted our video content to be. Although we may have further considered the idea of people exchanging numbers in the video, that would only become repetitive and primarily lacked a further meaning or purpose - which is what we believe will be more imaginative and enjoyable to create, whilst helping us achieve the grades we are aspiring towards!
